Educating the Young on wellbeing

Dolores Sanders was invited to talk to the year 8 PSHE at Caroline Chisholm School in Northampton in efforts to educate the young on Wellbeing.

Caroline Chisholm SchoolThe class enjoyed completed their own Wellness Questionnaire and calculating their wellness scores.  She then went through a simple presentation on the essential nutrients, how they effect the body and what happens when we don't have enough of the these in our daily diet.

The class teach, Ms Pearman, had asked Dolores to specifically look at deficiencies and the conversation became very animated as we discussed getting the essential vitamins and minerals from a variety of all the different colorful fruit and vegetables and balancing that with getting sufficient water intake and getting exercise out in the sun shine  (..WII sport does not count ! :-0 )

Sitting at the back of the room was a Sixth Form class studying Heath & Social Care at the School who's questions highlighted the need to clarify many of the confusing messages coming from todays media.

Dolores' key message was that "when it comes to fuelling the body, rather than thinking right or wrong, good or bad, think balance and eat from the colours of the rainbow"
